Credits are mostly earned by finishing races, participating in limited-time events, and completing career goals in the game. The most basic currency in Asphalt 9: Legends is Credits. Each currency can be obtained from performing specific actions, such as finishing a race or you can spend it for specific items, such as upgrades, cars, boosters, etc. There are several types of currency in Asphalt 9: Legends. There are also several locations from previous games including San Francisco, Rome, Osaka, New York, Nevada and Shanghai. There are also a number of race tracks in new locations: Cairo (with Giza), the Himalayas, Scotland, The Caribbean, the US Midwest and Auckland. Lastly, the Slipstream races are similar to classic ones but cars leave behind the slipstream line and when you drive over it your car fills up on nitro fast. A hunted race features a player escaping a police pursuit in a car chase without getting busted or running out of time. There is also a Time Attack where players have to cross the finish line during a specific time. The classic race mode is now back from previous games with new races. And in Events, you participate in daily or weekly competitions to win various items.Īsphalt 9 features 4 race types. In Multiplayer you compete against other players in real-time via the internet. In career mode, you complete single-player chapters, each of which has several series of races focused on specific car classes. There are three playing modes in Asphalt 9: Legends – Career, Multiplayer and Events and Special Events modes. This mode is also intended for beginners and casual players. On smartphones, there are 3 control schemes: tilt to steer, tap to steer, and Touch Drive, a new feature where you simply select routes and stunts by swiping left and right. When you have a full nitro bar and tap twice on the Nitro button there is a purple pulse released from your vehicle and the car’s speed increases. One feature that made a return from Asphalt 6: Adrenaline and Asphalt 7: Heat is the nitro shockwave. The more points the club has the better rewards, from credings to blueprints for cars. Another update brought us the “clubs” where up to 20 players can team up and collaborate on scores for ‘reputation point’ and achieve rewards. There are also several convertibles, including BMW Z4 LCI E89 and McLaren 570S. Some models will also allow the addition of carbon parts on the hood, wings, and trunk. Once you “star” up your car you can then create custom paint job colors for the body of the car, rims, and brake calipers for most models. When you unlock a car, you can choose from a few stock colors. And each car can also be customized now with a new car editor feature. Each new star brings better performance capabilities of the cars. Class D is the lowest one and each new player begins the game with the car from that class – a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X.Īnother update is that all cars in the game require blueprints to unlock them and “star them up”, and each of them has from 3 to 6 stars. Each of the cars belongs to a class and they progressively feature higher and better performances and rarity: D, C, B, A, and S class. When the game was first soft-launched, it featured 48 cars.Ĭurrently, as of the July 2021 update, there are 135 cars available. The very gameplay in this game is similar to the previous ones in the series but there are noticeable differences in design and graphics. Besides the autopilot mode, Touch Drive, and its use as a central gameplay mechanic, Asphalt 9 also added extensive use of simulated HDR rendering, as well as pixel shaders.
